Humanity has always looked beyond the horizon, and today that horizon is Mars. For the first time since the Moon landings, multiple organizations are competing to achieve a goal that could redefine our future: landing people on another planet. Leading the race are entrepreneur Elon Musk and his company SpaceX, billionaire Jeff Bezos and his Blue Origin program, and NASA, the world's most experienced space agency. Each follows a different path: private innovation, long-term engineering, and government-led exploration. But all of them share the same destination. Whether Mars is reached through bold risk-taking, patient development, or international cooperation, the winner of this new space race will earn a place in history.
EFFECT
In Mission to Mars, you will show a set of 3 space shuttles each representing one of the 3 leading aerospace companies, along with a large planet representing Mars. You will explain the philosophies of the 3 organizations, and a little about their efforts, then have your spectator launch the rockets towards Mars by sliding them on the table toward the red planet, based on which one they think will win the space race, or possibly their sensitivity to advanced quantum particles from the future traveling through space. Once they’ve decided which space shuttle will reach Mars first, you reveal that based on transmissions you’ve received from the future, they are exactly right.
