"Repeated Escape Attempt" is a brand-new, automatically completed poker magic effect. The magician always manages to find a card chosen by the audience, representing a cunning thief, hidden within the deck and identified solely by a few clues provided by the deck itself.
After showing the audience a deck of cards, the magician shuffles, cuts, and arranges them. He slides the cards in front of an audience member, who randomly shouts "Stop!", chooses the card representing the thief, peeks at it, and then mixes it into the middle of the deck.
The audience member decides whether to take cards from the top or bottom, selecting three cards: these are the evidence found by the undercover agent in charge of the case, determined to catch the culprit. These three cards will determine the time of the robbery, the distance from the crime scene to the hiding place of the stolen goods, and the street number of the building where the culprit appears to be hiding. By tracing each clue (i.e., taking the corresponding number of cards from the top of the deck), the culprit is caught—unbelievably!
However, taking advantage of the general distraction caused by the apparent success of this arduous task, the thief manages to slip away again and escape… Undeterred, the magician, after having the audience cut the rearranged deck and mix his cards back in, will say that the secret agent (revealing his identity for the first time) glimpsed his escape route and, thanks to the GPS he secretly kept in his pocket, will attempt to intercept him.
Following only the clue indicated by the first card of the same suit as the agent, the magician will also explain that the value of that card will indicate the thief's coordinates in three-dimensional space, expressed as latitude, longitude, and altitude.
Therefore, by having the audience count the number of cards for each coordinate starting from the top of the deck, the cunning thief will finally be brought to justice!
